We all know about the tragic death of George Floyd and how it has sparked protests against racism and injustice all over the country and the world. Floyd’s death is only one more incidence of racial injustice in the last few months, following the deaths of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.

In light of these painful events and the racial unrest that has recently dominated our nation, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee invites all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to take part in the virtual event Speak Up, Listen Up: A Conversation on Race and Racism. The purpose is to provide an open forum in which members of the Florida Poly community can express themselves free of judgement, and search for common understanding on this very difficult issue.

The event will be held via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, June 17 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

All employees and students will also receive a direct invite via email to add the event to their calendars. If you are a students and wish to request an ADA accommodation to participate, please email Disability Services or [email protected].

If you have questions or comments you would like shared during the conversation, you are welcome to email them to the Diversity & Inclusion Committee ahead of time.

Your participation is highly encouraged. Let’s listen to one another and have a respectful dialogue as we seek unity and equality together.
